At Pret, we've recognized the importance of sustainability for decades. We believe that ethical coffee farmers should grow coffee in a way that enhances the environment in which they produce it.
Our commitment to sustainability
We try to implement as many environmentally friendly practices as possible. Here are some examples:
- Encourage shade-grown coffee: Not only is it delicious, but it's also less harmful to the environment. Using the natural shade of trees reduces the amount of pesticides and fertilizers we need and preserves the trees.
- Reusing coffee processing waste: Instead of disposing of coffee processing waste, we use it as fertilizer to feed agricultural land.
- Water Reuse: We reuse water from the treatment process to irrigate future coffee crops.
- Employing Certified Organic Farmers: We work with certified farmers for our organic produce.
